Carrie Henrichsen Cancer Benefit

Donation protected

In September of 2015, Carrie was diagnosed with breast cancer and within days of diagnosis had surgery, a partial mastectomy, to remove the cancer right away.  With great hope, we all thought this would be behind her. With her oncotype DX test, (a genetic test that produces a score to help determine how likely another occurrence of breast cancer is) her oncologist reported that her score was 82 on a scale of 1 - 100. High risk is anything above  31. The highest score the oncologist had ever seen before was 40.

With her score being so high, her oncologist said to either get radiation and take Tomoxofin for 5 years or (on the extreme side) , a mastectomy. With Carrie's Ataxia symptoms, a double mastectomy is what her oncologist and surgeon recommend.

Prior to the cancer diagnosis,
Carrie was diagnosed with Ataxia (a genetic neuromuscular disorder, specifically SCA2).
In 2009,  Carrie moved to Nevada where she practiced law for 5 years.
In 2014, Carrie could no longer work due to the Ataxia and moved back to South Dakota to be near her family and friends. And now uses a wheelchair full time.
Her transition home included finding her animal service companion, Wesley, who assists Carrie with her everyday routines.

With Carrie unable to work, it is extremely hard for her to cover all of these extra bills.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
