Against All Odds

My name is Arelene Stamper, and I started this fundraiser in hopes of helping my brother, Jared, and his family cover growing medical expenses. More on this in a minute.

First, I would like to say a couple of things about my brother. Jared lives in the present while he has had his share of hardships; he has never let them keep him down. He has a fantastic ability to stay in the moment and celebrate the little things in life. We have been housemates, classmates and co-workers. In each stage of life, he has encouraged me to make the most of today. His continued positivity and love for life are inspirational, and I love him dearly.

In March 2022, Jared went to the emergency room with concussion-like symptoms. Doctors quickly realized his condition was way more severe than a concussion. Jared was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumor (Glioblastoma) and immediately scheduled for surgery. His St. Patty's Day operation was largely successful, as doctors removed 95% of the cancerous growth.

Over the last six months, there have been many doctor appointments and rounds of Chemo and radiation. Since Glioblastoma is an aggressive form of cancer, ongoing treatment will continue to be required to slow its growth. As I am sure you all know, this level of specialized medical care in the U.S. isn't cheap, even with health insurance and VA benefits.
