Magnus is a very sweet boy that my daughter and her partner adopted In May, Sam and Leah welcomed two five-month-old rescue puppies, Magnus and his brother Kevin. From the start, it was clear Magnus had slightly bowed front legs, likely from birth. But it never slowed him down — he ran, played, and loved life like any happy, healthy puppy.
Both pups settled into their new home beautifully. They were eating, playing, and thriving. A local vet gave them a clean bill of health, and Sam and Leah made sure to take out pet insurance to protect them both.
Magnus started to wobble when he walked and became visibly uncomfortable. At first, it was thought to be a strain from rough play, but when things didn’t improve, the vet referred him to a specialist. CT scans revealed devastating news — Magnus has severe dysplasia, and without surgery, he will continue to live in pain and lose the ability to walk properly.
CT Scan & Investgation £2500
The cost of the scans alone was £2,500
The operation, including a few nights in the clinic, is £7,500
Plus physio and rehabilitation afterwards
To make things worse, the insurance company refused to cover any of it, claiming it’s a pre-existing condition — even though Magnus showed no signs of pain or difficulty when he was adopted. Despite appeals, they will not help.
Sam and Leah have already begged and borrowed the £2,500 to cover the scans and are doing everything they can to raise the remaining £6,250 for the surgery from a second specialist who has offered a lower quote. But they simply can’t afford it alone.
Magnus is just 11 months old — still a baby — and he’s the sweetest, most gentle soul. He loves tummy rubs, snuggles, and playing with his brother Kevin. Seeing him struggle to walk now is utterly heartbreaking.
He deserves to live a full, happy life — running, playing, and being the joyful puppy he once was.
Please, if you can, help Magnus get his surgery and a pain-free future.
No amount is too small — every donation brings him one step closer to walking again. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread his story.
We’ll be creating a Facebook page soon so everyone who supports Magnus can follow his progress and recovery.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your kindness, compassion, and generosity. x
Let’s give Magnus the chance to walk, run, and play again.
