Support for the Alston/Williams Family

On Wednesday, June 24, 2015, Shanice Alston and Kyana Williams-Alston were involved in a terrible car accident, leaving both of them hospitalized with multiple fractures and other serious injuries.

Shanice had an unfortunate complication due to her injuries, which caused her to suffer a stroke. Although she is slowly recovering from the stroke, she still has a long road ahead of her. She is now scheduled for surgery to repair her fractured arm. Afterwards she will endure countless hours of therapy to aid in her recovery.  

Kyana’s injuries will also require a lengthy recovery. She is a young, budding track star who has suffered a pelvis fracture, a femoral head (hip) fracture, and dental fractures as well. The good news about Kyana is that she is a fighter! However, she will also face therapy as part of her recovery.

Shanice and Kyana’s mother and grandfather are doing everything they can to support these young ladies during this devastating time of need. Their support includes continuing to care for Shancie’s two-year-old son, De’Kari, who has Down syndrome. They are doing everything they can to help keep De’Kari’s life as routine as possible. This includes taking him to and from his year-round school on a daily basis, continuing with his private therapy schedule three times a week, tending to his daily living needs, and helping him understand why his mother has not come home yet.
