Hello, I am a co-worker of Isaac Martinez. Isaac is our amazing Chief Engineer at the JetBlue Lodge.

 

Isaac was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and has been in the hospital since mid-January.

 

The week between Christmas and New Year, Isaac lost his voice, and we all thought it was a cold. In true Isaac fashion, he continued to work and push through it. A week later, he went to urgent care and was told he had a bad bacteria infection in his throat. He was given an antibiotic and sent on his way. A week later and still no better, Isaac went back to urgent care and was told to continue to take the antibiotic and that it was just going to take time. On the day of January 15th, Isaac was having problems breathing and, with no family in the area, took an Uber to the Hosptial, where he was immediately admitted, and tests were run. Isaac was told he possibly had cancer they were going to do biopsies. He was also told his vocal cords were damaged, that he would never be able to speak more than a whisper and that he would only have 40% airflow. Days later, he got the news that no one ever wants to hear, he indeed has cancer, and it is wrapped around his vocal cords, carotid artery and his aorta. Isaac has started Chemo and Radiation to save his life.
