Please help Joann!

Hi my name is Lucretia,

I’ve created this go fund me for JoAnn Mortensen to help with her medical debt.

HERE is her story. JoAnn and I met more than 20 years ago when our daughters played basketball together. She had I developed an immediate and long standing friendship! She worked with me at Kay Jewelers for more than 18 years.

In 2021 her husband Peter was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. For more than a year JoAnn selflessly spent every waking moment to take care of him, providing him with positivity, love and encouragement! I’m so Sad to say this great man passed away surrounded by the love of his wife JoAnn of 33 years, his daughter Aimee and her husband Richie in August of 2022.

Shortly after his death, JoAnn developed a sore throat with a lot of pain and after seeing the Dr several times was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in March of 2023. After months of chemotherapy and radiation it appeared the tumor had shrunk enough and she started to eat small bites of food while keeping the feeding tube as a back up if needed!

Im disappointed to say she had a procedure to stretch her esophagus allowing her to eat and drink without the pain. During this procedure complications arose resulting in tearing her esophagus. NOW she has a trach, and has been back to her feeding tube for months.

She is feeling ok and is hopeful the trach will eventually be removed.

Her medical costs surpassed $600,000 for her diagnosis and treatment so far..

Her balance today is more than $30,000

I am asking for HELP so she can focus on recovery.
