My name is Avery. I want to start off by saying my partner was laid off recently and we have no income at the moment. My cat, Xyra, started salivating excessively and refused to eat or drink water. I took her to an emergency vet and they said she had ulcers caused by stress (we just moved recently). They gave her steroids, sucralfate, a pain reliever, and clindamycin, which helped tremendously. My other cat, Toby, started having the same symptoms, so I shared the medicine between the two, but the vet won't prescribe any more of the medicine without taking one of them back to the vet. I will also need to get them both blood tests to see where the infection is stemming from and if it's life-threatening, FIV, FELV, or something else. It can't be stress if they both have it, so the blood tests are necessary.

For the two visits, one being the emergency vet hospital and the other being urgent care, we spent around $500. I had to borrow $450 and still have to pay this back. Having no income, being in debt, and needing to take them back to the vet, I'm panicking for their health. It has been one day without the medicine and they're already declining to their original states. If I can't raise the funds, I will have to give them away to someone who can care for them, but these are my children. They've been with me through everything—sleeping in a shed so my dad would let me have them (I was a teen at the time), sleeping in my car, staying in hotels, the loss of my baby, etc., and I can't imagine living without them. But giving them to someone who can get them the medical help they need is the only other option I have if I can't get them the help they need. Their life is more important than my comfort, which is one reason I'm on here asking others for help. I feel guilty asking anyone for help, but I don't know what else to do. Please help my babies. Please help me to keep them. They're my entire world, every single day revolves around them.
