UPDATE: Unfortunately, our baby Zeus passed away this morning. We are absolutely heartbroken and trying to process this loss. He was so loved.
We’re keeping this active for a bit longer to help us recoup some of the unexpected veterinary costs from his emergency care and treatments. We did everything we could for him, and those efforts came with a heavy financial burden.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us, shared kind words, and kept Zeus in your thoughts. It truly means more than we can say.
I am writing this on behalf of my sister Monika, who has had to cut her vacation short and buy a plane ticket home to save her dog, Zeus. Zeus is fighting for his life right now, and our family is doing everything we can to save him. Out of nowhere, Zeus became critically ill. At first, the vets were confused because his lab work looked normal, but something was terribly wrong. We were able to get him to see an internal medicine specialist, who quickly discovered the cause — pancreatitis and internal bleeding. Zeus lost a dangerous amount of blood, which led to life-threatening anemia. He needed an emergency blood transfusion just to survive. While we waited for a donor dog, Zeus started to decline even further, and they had to give him synthetic blood to keep him alive. It was one of the scariest moments of our lives. Right now, Zeus is still in the hospital under constant, critical care. He needs round-the-clock monitoring to give him the best chance to recover. Every single day matters. My sister already paid over $10,000 in emergency care just to stabilize him. Ongoing hospitalization costs $1,000 per night, and we don’t know how long he will need to stay. But we are not ready to give up on him. Zeus is more than a pet — he’s family. He brings so much love, joy, and comfort to my sister. If you are able to donate, share, or even just keep Zeus in your thoughts, it would mean the world to us. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us keep him in the ICU to get the care he needs. Currently, he has received a blood transfusion and his blood cells have increased, which gives us a glimmer of hope but he continues to have bleeding in the GI tract and high blood pressure. We have 24 hours. This is his last chance for recovery. Thank you for helping us give Zeus a chance to come home. ❤️
