Amanda's Army of Angels

Hi, my name is Kim; I'm Amanda (Moszer) Egginger's Mom. I am setting up this GoFundMe page to help Amanda, Luke and our grandkids Kaylie & Jack cover living expenses and medical bills incurred when she is out of work while undergoing chemotherapy. She was diagnosed on Tuesday with triple-negative invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. She received her port this morning, and her Dr. told her it would be approximately 20+ weeks before she'll be able to go back to work full time. She will endure eight (8) weeks of chemotherapy. There will then be a month break for her white blood cells to build back up, and then she will undergo a double breast mastectomy. She also learned from her employer that she's 100 hrs short of qualifying for FMLA. Anything donated is extremely appreciated, and words can't say Thank You enough!

Here's her story:
From Amanda: About three weeks ago, I found a lump in my left breast. I was sent to the doctor, who assured me she thought it was just a cyst, but she wanted to play it safe because of family history, so I was sent for a mammogram. The mammogram showed suspicion, so an ultrasound was done. The radiologist did not fully know what it was. She knew it was part cystic, but there was also a mass. I was referred for a biopsy. A week later, I had three biopsies' taken of that lump. Six (6) days later, I received the news I never wanted to hear. I have breast cancer. Not only that, but my type of cancer doesn’t respond to hormone therapy or typical chemo. It's called Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I was devastated, crying, angry, mad, and sad. Good moments bad moments. I am a mom of two children that need me here. Things moved pretty quickly after I was scheduled to meet with oncology and surgeon the next day. I met with them yesterday. My treatment plan was explained to me, and I found out I caught it early. We are at stage 1. Because it is harder to treat through hormones, I have to go through chemo. I will get a port placed tomorrow that I will get blood draws from, and chemo will be given. Chemo will last 6-8 weeks at least. After chemo, I will receive surgery. I opted for both of my breasts to be removed afterward. A plastic surgeon will be in on the case, and I will have reconstruction at that time. If the breast tissue shows no more cancer cells at that time, I am done with therapy. If not, I will have to do radiation. I will be out and down for six weeks after surgery. I was told I will lose all my hair within the first 18 days of chemo. I was also told I would develop neuropathy in my hands and feet. I have had so much love and support from friends and family so far. I can’t thank everyone enough! This is sucky, and cancer sucks, but I have a great team to get me through each day. I am remaining positive, and I’m going to kick cancers ass! Also, know that if I haven’t responded to texts, calls or messages, I am sorry it’s not personal. Just trying to digest it all myself and spend time with my family. Luke is my rock and has been so supportive, and I am so happy to have him during this difficult time. Again, thank you to everyone!
