Lakehead Aero Design Competition
Donation protected
Our team, consisting of four 4th-year mechanical engineering students at Lakehead University, will be competing at the SAE Aero Design East Competition from March 6-8, 2020 held in Lakeland, Florida.
The problem statement: The customer needs to transport many large spherical storage tanks to very remote locations, with short runways. Normal aircraft cannot perform this task and helicopters are too expensive and lack sufficient range.
The goal for the regular class competition is to design, build, and fly a radio-controlled bush plane with the ability to carry heavy loads with short runways.
This project will provide our team with the opportunity to apply our engineering knowledge in a team environment to create an original aircraft design. Our hope, by creating this go fund me page, is to fundraise for our prototypes, materials and travels to the competition. This will not only support students but will also be supporting the future engineers of Canada.
Cheers
