Hello family, friends, and my community,
As I have mentioned to many of you, I am beginning my medical school journey. During my undergraduate career, I obtained a degree in Biosystems Engineering where I dove into medical research, critical analysis, and aided in the development of medical devices that push forward research advancements. Recently, I completed a Masters of Science in Biomedical Science, while working full time as a medical assistant to gain clinical experience. Working as a medical assistant has been great thus far, simply providing reinforcement of my decision to pursue medicine. I’ve found joy in the continuous learning process and the ability to be a part of providing thoughtful patient care. As I embark on this journey towards becoming a physician, I have begun to set down my road map on how to prepare for admissions. Currently, I am still working full time while preparing to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) with the intent on applying to medical school during the upcoming 2025-2026 cycle. As some of you may know, getting to medical school can provide some challenges - with one of which being financial. Taking the MCAT alone is $345, with the application cost increasing with each school applied to. Based on my current plan, I am looking to obtain $4,500. This would include testing preparation, application fees, cost of travel for interviews, and some exams needed during medical school. It would be greatly appreciated if those reading could donate towards helping me pursue my career aspirations. I would love to be able to come back to thank and update you all on helping me become apart of the 2.8% of African-American women physicians!
