‼️TRIGGER WARNING ‼️

Last week we were contacted asking to take on a very upsetting case. Delilah a 16 week old kitten was brought as a gift for a 4 year old. Delilah was then dropped into a scalding bath by the child in which she received very severe burns. Delilah was then left like this for several days before veterinary treatment was sought. In this time her wounds had become badly infected and she was screaming in agony when she arrived. As Delilah needed intensive costly treatment which amounted to way more than what she was purchased for the owners no longer wanted her and of course we agreed to take her on. Delilah has a very long road to recovery and has already completed a weeks stay at the vets in which she has been receiving daily bandage changes. For these bandage changes she has to be sedated every time as it’s just too painful for her to manage without. She has also been receiving opioids every 4hrs to keep her comfortable along with intravenous fluid therapy due to major dehydration, nursing care and other various medication. Once her pain is able to be managed on oral medication alone she will then be going home with one of our wonderful fosterers who is also a veterinary nurse and will continue her treatment plan with her in the comfort of her own home. As you can imagine her treatment bill has become rather costly and is still ongoing. Being a small independent rescue who rely on fund raising and donations by kind members of the public we really appreciate all the help we can get. Although we just don’t have the funds as we have so many animals under our care we could not see this one be euthanised at such a young age as she really does deserve a chance especially after all she has been through. We understand that there may be some people out there thinking we should have just put her out of her misery but you have not met Delilah. Delilah really does have a fighting spirit and you can tell she wants to live. Despite all she has been through she still purrs like a train, loves her grub and even attempts to play with her toys despite her massive boxing gloves!

We would also like to make everyone aware that this has been reported and that steps are being put in place to get justice for Delilah.
