Help Lee Get The Insulin She Needs
Donation protected
For 15 years Lee Chapman edited and published First Intensity Press and First Intensity Magazine. She did this on essentially her own dime, paying the publication costs of the magazine until the last few months of First Intensity’s run. She published some of the most interesting poets and fiction writers around, many of them well known, as well as new writers to whom she gave an important start. She is also a wonderful artist (see http://www.leechapmanart.com/). Now, beset with health problems (diabetes, emphysema), Lee finds herself in the pharmaceutical donut hole. Her needed medications have used up the first round of her pharmaceutical insurance. Her insurance will not pay for any more of her medications until she has spent $4,000. While she’s in the donut hole her insulin alone will cost her $2,050 a month. Since she is on a Medicare Advantage program, she can’t access institutional help meant for people who don’t have insurance. Her only income is a small social security benefit. So she is stuck. She can’t survive without her insulin. She needs help, and she needs it now. Can you help her?
