Please Help Charlie, Our Fox Red Lab

To all those animal lovers out there who know how important our pets are to us. They give us so much happiness and they depend on us to do what’s best for them and in return give so much back. We need your help to help our fox red Labrador Charlie who is the most beautiful, gentle and devoted dog anyone could ever wish for. He is my gem! This poor dog has been through so much in the last two years. We have had him from eight weeks old. As he grew when he got to about six months old, he started screaming like he was in agonising pain, we had an x-ray to find out he had spondylitis and all his nerves were being pressed on. Lots of medication came to the rescue, but this was only masking the problem we took him for a consultation to see a back specialist who told us they wouldn’t operate on him. I was horrified what does this mean for my dog? We tried many options like lambrella injections, acupuncture which helped for awhile but then it no longer helped which meant more medication. At this point I asked to be referred to see someone who would be his only hope. We then went for MRI and CT scans we didn’t think it could get any worse. We were told Charlie had a one in 1 million million million rare case he had an infection in his bones which was eating away at his back bone I cried and sobbed and I couldn’t sleep thinking about my poor boy. The plan going forward is for Charlie to have an operation to strengthen his back and tie the nerves back together, he will be made plates and pins to fit him and while under the anaesthetic they are going to put crystallised beads into his bones which are an antibiotic to hopefully kill off the infection. Obviously this procedure is at a cost and this is where I’m hoping many of you lovely people out there will help my dog Charlie and give him a chance of some relief and happiness for however many years he can as he deserves the best treatment we can give him. I can’t give up on him like many would. He’s my precious boy and I can’t imagine my life without him. All our insurance went last year due to cost of medication we have paid for consultations and scans and medications out of our own funds but now we need to find £10,000 for his operation. Please please help us to raise it so we can go ahead and give my boy a chance, I can’t lose him, he’s only two and hasn’t had a normal dogs life up to now. I know there’s many lovely, caring people out there who don’t think our pets are just dumb animals like some people do they have rights and feelings too he’s like one of my children and you wouldn’t give up on them would you? please start donating we haven’t got a date yet as the plates and pins have to be made to suit Charlie but we will be looking at about 6 to 8 weeks.
