For those of you lucky enough to have been loved on by Z and/or Zaza, you know that they show up without hesitation and without qualification. Z is a master of community care.

It’s time for us to show up for them. Z is fundraising for their top surgery – a gender affirming procedure that will allow them to feel at home in their body without the daily pain of body dysmorphia.

This mutual aid request comes during the midst of a trans genocide, when governments across our country are passing legislation to erase trans existence and trans joy. Those of you who are lucky enough to know Z personally know that Z uses their access as a trans person with privilege to fight for trans liberation every damn day. I cannot begin to count the number of trans folks that are still with us as a direct result of Z’s visibility, community care, advocacy, warm meals, and big Zaza hugs.

The initial consult for this lifesaving procedure is $1,000, and the total out of pocket cost is $15,000.

Z has raised this amount of money many times over for other folks in need, most often in small amounts from our community. It’s our turn to cover them in the same community care they have given so many of us. To help them get the body to be free, and to celebrate the resistance that is trans joy.

Every dollar counts. And because Z is Z, they recognize that there are many trans folks with far more barriers to access than them, and will be donating a portion of the money raised to help a Black trans woman get access to gender affirming care.
