My very dear friend Becky is a 36 year old that is facing the biggest battle of her life. For those of you who know her, you know that she is the most LOVING, CARING person you will ever meet and she ALWAYS puts others before herself. She is a stay at home mom of a busy 2 year old toddler and is expecting her second child in June with her husband.
Her story:
Becky had noticed a lump on her right breast and decided to address it at her first prenatal visit in November. Initially, she wasn’t too alarmed as she has had a history of fibroadenomas and cysts that had been benign in the past. What was supposed to be an exciting first prenatal visit turned into one of worry. The doctor recommended an ultrasound of the lump
which was scheduled for the following week. After having the ultrasound, the doctor ordered a biopsy as the images raised concern. The biopsy was performed on their sons second birthday and the results were in two days later. She was diagnosed with Triple Negative, Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma which is an aggressive form of breast cancer. She will be working with a team of obstetricians and monitored closely until the baby is born. She has numerous appointments with multiple specialists to determine the right course of treatment for her. With the upcoming financial burden between medical and travel expenses, we are reaching out for help in hopes that we can alleviate some of the stress that this devastating diagnosis has caused.
