Nereid Boat Club, established in 1868, is one of the oldest boat clubs in the nation. It has a history of overcoming challenges, the most famous being an arson fire that destroyed its premises in 1962 but it was revived in 1994 at its current home in Rutherford, NJ on the banks of the Passaic River. Nereid is well known in the rowing world with its Youth Team earning medals at prestigious races including USRowing Summer Nationals in 2021 in the Girls U17 4x, USrowing Youth Nationals in 2022 in the Boys U17 4x and Girls U17 4x, and home of the Head of the Charles Champions in the Girls 4x this past Fall!

I have committed to raising $500 for my boat club so we can continue to raise funds to expand, and update our fleet. We are looking to purchase two high-quality used eights to give more kids like me an opportunity to be a part of the great sport of rowing, at Nereid Boat Club. For every $1 raised, I will row 10 meters on January 28th with my teammates. If we hit our team target goal, we would have rowed 190 miles from NYC all the way to the Charles River in Boston to celebrate the historic victory of our Girls 4x at the Head of the Charles!

I’ve been a part of the Nereid community and have been rowing for almost 3 years now. Rowing has improved my life in many more ways than one. The life lessons and knowledge I’ve gained from this boathouse and these people alone is truly incredible and I’m so thankful to be a part of the Nereid community which is built up of amazing, smart, devoted coaches who happily give their time and advice to rowers like me in order to continue the sport of rowing.
