Andrea Diaz Mondragon was a bright and loving 17-year-old whose life was tragically cut short following an accident at Sequoia National Park on June 19, 2026. Andrea was visiting the park for the first time alongside her older brother and a group of friends when the tragic accident occurred. After slipping into the river, her older brother and a close friend immediately rushed in to try to save her. Despite their courageous efforts, Andrea could not be rescued.
Born on October 15, 2008, Andrea had just completed her junior year at Pioneer Valley High School and was preparing to begin her senior year this August. She dreamed of becoming a nurse and was passionate about helping others. Andrea loved to dance, spending time with her family and friends, and bringing joy to those around her. She was known for being outgoing, strong, brave, and caring.
Above all, Andrea deeply loved her family. She cherished her mother, father, and two older brothers, and was always there for her younger sister, whom she loved and protected. Her beautiful spirit touched countless lives, and her loss has left her family, friends, and classmates heartbroken.
During this incredibly difficult time, Andrea’s family is facing the unexpected costs of bringing her home to Santa Maria, California, and covering funeral and memorial expenses. We are asking for the support of our community to help ease this burden and help give Andrea the farewell she deserves.

Andrea Díaz Mondragón era una joven brillante y llena de amor de 17 años cuya vida terminó trágicamente tras un accidente en el Parque Nacional Sequoia el 19 de junio de 2026. Andrea visitaba el parque por primera vez junto a su hermano mayor y un grupo de amigos cuando ocurrió el trágico accidente. Después de resbalar y caer al río, su hermano mayor y un amigo cercano se lanzaron de inmediato para intentar salvarla. A pesar de sus valientes esfuerzos, no fue posible rescatarla.
Nacida el 15 de octubre de 2008, Andrea acababa de terminar su tercer año en Pioneer Valley High School y se preparaba para comenzar su último año de preparatoria este próximo agosto. Soñaba con convertirse en enfermera y le apasionaba ayudar a los demás. A Andrea le encantaba bailar, pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos, y llevar alegría a quienes la rodeaban. Su hermosa forma de ser tocó la vida de muchas personas, y su partida ha dejado con el corazón roto a su familia, amigos y compañeros de escuela.
Durante este momento tan difícil, la familia de Andrea enfrenta los gastos inesperados de traerla de regreso a Santa María, California, así como los costos de los servicios funerarios y conmemorativos.
