Let’s Give Pam a Hand!!
At the end of February Pam thought she had come down with a cold or allergies because of a persistent cough. Since she never gets sick, she didn't think much of it. In April she decided she needed to see a doctor thinking her cough might be bronchitis or pneumonia. The doctor did an x-ray of her lungs and Pam was diagnosed with pneumonia and put on antibiotics for 10 days. This didn’t help so the doctor told her to come back in for another x-ray and blood test. After looking at the results, the doctor called and told her to go in right away for a CT scan. Late that same evening Pam was told the devastating news … she had lung cancer.
The diagnosis was especially unbelievable and shocking because Pam is a non-smoker! Further tests showed Pam is in Stage 4 and it is not only in her lungs, but also her lymph nodes, neck bones and a few small spots on her brain.
Pam is a single mother of 3 beautiful daughters and a successful, self employed Realtor. Her daughter Amy lives in Oregon. Taylor and Carla are both honor students in the IB program at Lakewood High School and both are cheerleaders, in the orchestra and have jobs. Pam is so very proud of all three girls! She loves her job and helping her clients with their real estate needs and they love her! She plans to continue working as long as she’s physically able.
Pam obviously has had a lot of stress in her life after this diagnosis. Pam’s $6850 out of pocket insurance expense will start again early in the year as she already has her PET scan and MRI scheduled in January. This cost adds additional stress and puts a strain on her budget. Our goal for this fundraising campaign is to alleviate some of the stress for her and her girls by helping with the cost of her treatment. Any extra money raised will be used to bring her daughter Amy home every couple of months to see her mom which, as you can imagine, is so important to both of them!
As the holidays approach you may be looking for a way to help someone that will make a real and lasting difference. Your contribution to Pam’s fund will do that. Please contribute as much as you can to help us reach (and hopefully surpass) our goal. Your contribution to this fund matters a great deal to Pam and her family and will be greatly appreciated!
