Some of you may know that in August 2016, our beloved Kate was diagnosed with Non small cell lung cancer, adenocarcinoma, Stage IV. Kate is working with a variety of treatments, some of which are very costly. Due to her health she left her job at the Co-op in October and is waiting for her approved disability to come through. The financial demands for Kate to manage her health and well being continue to grow, and exceed her resources.
For years Kate has brought love and healing to our community through her advocacy work for women, her massage, Reiki and cranial sacral skills, her support of local musicians and artists, (and her own art and music), volunteering for local environmental groups, her work at the Community Food Co-op, and her involvement in too many community groups, gatherings and projects to list - in Bellingham, in her heartland on the east side of the mountains, and in her home country of England.
Kate has always been there to pitch in when people need help, with a gift for lifting people’s spirits, making work projects fun, and sharing her love of nature, mountains and travel. We have all been so fortunate to benefit from her talent for friendship and community, spiritual wisdom, ability to live in the moment, commitment to social justice, fabulous wackiness and fun loving personality. Kate’s ability to see and celebrate the good in people has brought love, support and joy to so many of us. Her life, true to her own path, innately original and creative, has been an inspiration shared without fanfare, with enthusiasm and deep generosity.
Now Kate needs us. We have started this campaign to collect funds to help Kate cover her medical costs and get the treatments she needs without financial stress, so she can focus on healing, rest and living fully as she faces the demands of her health condition. Any amount is valuable and appreciated. In lieu of, or as well as money, healing energy sent Kate’s way would be well received.
