Terry needs our help!

On August 7, 2021, while pounding a well in Lovell, WY, Terry was electrocuted with over 19,000 volts of electricity. Though Terry miraculously survived this incident (with his quick wit and sarcasm intact), he was airlifted to the Western States Burn Center’s ICU in Greeley, CO. Terry suffered third degree burns to his hands, arms, and chest and fourth-plus degree burns to both feet. Though the doctors in Lovell and Greeley did everything they could, Terry unfortunately had to have partial amputations to both feet. Terry has now undergone three surgeries over the last six weeks, is facing the possibility of additional surgeries, and has been in Colorado ever since the accident, unable to be farther than one hour away from necessary critical care.
Though the goal is to get Terry back to Powell for at-home recovery within the next month, Terry is looking at several more weeks in Colorado, and at least a year of out-patient care, with at least monthly trips to Greeley for wound and burn care and other physical therapy and rehab. Medicare will pay for 80% of Terry’s three-week ICU stay and surgeries, however, there is no cap on the other 20% of expenses, no reimbursement for other costs of treatment, and no reimbursement for his remaining stay in Colorado and subsequent care.
Most devastating, it will be at least a year before Terry can even think of getting back to his normal life. For those who know Terry, they know that his “normal life” includes not only his fierce dedication to his family and his faith but also his dedication to his business and his community. They also know him best for wearing flip flops—rain or shine, three feet of snow, 24/7.
For those who don’t know Terry, his personality can be summed up in three words: dedicated, compassionate, and sarcastic! He has been a member of the Powell, WY community for the last forty years. During all this time, Terry has operated Shoshone Valley Landscaping, providing landscaping and spraying services to the Big Horn Basin. Though Terry is in his 60s, he has not slowed down: performing all manual labor himself, which during the summer includes working from sun up to sundown. Terry is also an active member of his community, actively participating in church and service-based activities in Powell, WY, including managing the Powell Christmas Basket program for the last two years. During his “off season,” Terry is the Director at Eagle Mount, an adaptive ski program in Red Lodge, MT, where he has been a volunteer (and then employee) for the last thirty years, actively working with individuals with mental and physical impairments from all across the country. Over the past few years, Terry has been able to bring in wounded veterans through the Operation Second Chance program and has been fortunate enough to work with veterans from across the country.
Terry’s injuries have rendered him unable to continue his work at Shoshone Valley Landscaping or at Eagle Mount for at least a year. Though Terry is doing his best to keep the tree & weed spraying side of his business going in his absence, Terry has been unable to do what he has done for the last 40+ years: work. Terry has spent nearly every day of the last several weeks doing his best to take care of his customers and his employees from afar, but he needs your help!
In the midst of the recent tragic events, the outpouring of well-wishes, love, and prayers has been unbelievably heartwarming and comforting to Terry and his family. Terry and his wife—Jan Cronin—are looking at potentially hundreds of thousands in medical and other expenses, and with Terry unable to work for at least the next year, the looming medical, business, and personal expenses are overwhelming.
With your help, we hope to help relieve even a portion of the immense financial burden faced by Terry and Jan while the Cronin family focuses on keeping Terry’s spirits up and getting him on the road to recovery! Any little bit would help, and the Cronin family is immensely grateful to each and every person who has reached out!!
