Help Us Rebuild the Barn!
Donation protected
Hi everyone, for those who don't know our family, our Mom, Amy, is a single mom of 5 who has sacrificed so much to raise us. For those of you who do know her, you know how amazing she is and how much she LOVES her animals. Currently, she lives on a small farm where she raises various livestock in Lancaster. On Monday 6/22, there was a tragic fire that burned down her goat barn. She works graveyard shift as a nurse 5 days a week and was sleeping when this started. Kristen (daughter) came home, saw the smoke and called 911. She pulled as many animals as she could out and woke up my mom. The AV Fire Department, Police department and Animal Control were able to come quickly and put the fire out. We are extremely lucky the house did not catch on fire, we know how fast and destructive fires can be and are beyond grateful circumstances weren't worse. Because my mom tried to put the fire out herself and save her animals, she suffered Stage 2 burns on her feet which she says are minimal injuries compared to the number of lives she lost that day. Unfortunately, 20 goats were unable to be saved, along with many chickens and ducks. Many of the goats that did survive have suffered injuries from the smoke resulting in swollen and puffy eyes, and runny noses. They are being followed by animal control and have been taken to the vet to make sure they are properly treated for.
The barn had just finished being built when this happened. Because she has sacrificed so much for us, we are doing all we could to give back to her. We are asking the community to help us raise money to build a new barn. We wish we could give her all the money in the world to build a new one, but what we can offer isn't enough. The cost to build the new barn is $1,000+ but ANYTHING WILL HELP. Anything we have left over will go to building a new chicken coop destroyed in the fire as well. Priority is though, to give the rest of the goats who made it through the fire, a new and safe home as soon as possible before the desert summer weather hits, and make it as easy as we can for our mom to get her farm back in order. Thank you so much for reading this.
Sincerely,
Amy's Children

And here is our lucky baby, he's the only baby goat to survive :)
