Fanny's Crohns Disease Journey- Medical Fundraiser

We are fundraising to support our dear, loving, vibrant friend Fanny and her healing journey with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Fanny gives unconditionally to her family, loved ones and many communities and we are asking for you to support us all in holding Fanny in her time of need by donating what you can to this medical fund.

For the past year and a half Fanny has been searching for healing and treatment from her intensifying illness. She has been aware of her Crohn's for the past 7 years but has had challenges accessing proper care. In the past 6 months the pain and illness has become overwhelming with constant appointments and often a lack of answers or support.

Fanny only has the energy to leave the house for part time-work, to go to medical appointments (often multiple per week) and walk her dog Sully. As a contract arts worker she has had to give up gigs and work opportunities as her body can’t take it on. This adds additional financial and mental health stress and means she is not able to make the the extra income needed to support the costs of this treatment.

She is very grateful for her partner Jen’s support. Jen also has a chronic disability that impacts both of them daily and adds additional struggle to getting through everyday tasks. Being both chronically ill means that they often need to spend more money on take out, grocery delivery etc. in order to meet their basic needs.

The next step in her Crohn's journey is an infusion therapy called Skyrizi - https://www.skyrizi.com/ Fanny needs to receive an infusion treatment once a month for four months. It’s a biologic infusion therapy and part of the reason that they are giving it to her is that her colon is repeatedly getting infected due to Crohn's. We are hopeful that the Skyrizi treatment will support the health of her colon, which is at risk of needing to be removed if it continues to be infected.

After the four infusion treatments Fanny will need to get a On Body Injector to receive continual maintenance treatments for the foreseeable future.

Breakdown of Costs:

Skyrizi Treatment: $2000/treatment x 4 treatments - $8000

On Body Injector: $4000

Additional Medication: $1500

Travel to appts and healing: $1500

TOTAL: $15,000

** Fanny has worked hard to access as much financial medical support as she is able but unfortunately the cost of these treatments is high. Each dose before work benefits and pharmacare is approx. $30,000.
