Carrie with Medical Expenses

Welcome to Carrie‘s medical expense fundraiser. My name is Jessica, Carrie and I have been friends for many years and I am delighted to be able to help her anyway, that I can.. Before I hand the “pen” over to her, I wanted to thank you for your role as a friend and or family member in her life. She speaks of you often.

Like many other individuals Carrie has been given the not so unique role of having to survive our healthcare system as an under insured individual. Meaning she doesn’t quite meet the criteria for total assistance, but she doesn’t then have the funds to meet the need. Having to watch a friend go through tough and often painful medical procedures is hard enough, but then having to worry about how she will pay rent or even gas to a medical appointment, it’s heartbreaking. She gets up each day, with a smile on her face, and faces head on the burden in her life. Although she is battling her own illness, she frequently turns to friends and family to offer them support and love.

I thank God for her ability to spread happiness, to love others, and serve as an example of resiliency, Courage and love.

I’m a lifelong Washingtonian and a nurse for 40 years practicing in both pediatrics and Seattle children’s and teaching online at Ohio University in the ADN to BSN program.

I am an RABID DAWG, SHE HAWK & MARINER. I learned about hockey over the past few years so anm also a Kraken fan!

My family and friends are precious to me on this journey as is my faith in God. On days I might not feel well, I wear a funny hat or outfit to make me smile. I am well known for animal and holiday clothing. In my community.

I have faced increasing challenges with my health as the decades have progressed, but I have never let my diseases define me. I pay it forward when I can. Making others lives better even for a moment greatly helps me. That is how I practiced as a nurse.

I am so blessed to have so many long time friends and I thank you in advance for your kindness and support over the years. It has not gone unnoticed.
