We come to you today on behalf of Damaris and her family, to ask for your help in providing some support. Damaris has been out of work and on medical leave, since October 2022. She has been fighting to not only get well, but to find ways to stay afloat financially. It has taken 4 months for short term disability to payout (after countless denials) and long term disability has not yet provided compensation. It has been approximately 9 months of not being able to work. As a result, Damaris and her husband lost one of their vehicles and had to move out of her home to live with one of her daughters. While managing all of this, her husband was also recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Damaris is a devoted mental health therapist who has helped countless children, adolescents, and their families throughout her career. She supports them in working to enhance emotional and cognitive skills, reduce symptoms of mental illness, and to cope with life challenges. While Damaris works to get well and take care of her husband, we were hopeful to provide support where we can.
