$8. The Price of a Ben & Jerry’s Pint. The Power to Beat Billion Dollar Bullies.
This has happened before.
In 1984, Pillsbury tried to use its corporate muscle to crush Ben & Jerry’s. Ben and Jerry couldn’t win a straight legal fight against a $4 billion corporation. So they turned to their fans. They called it the Legal Defense Fund. Fans sent $10 and got a t-shirt that read: “Ben & Jerry’s Legal Defense Fund: Major Contributor.” Pillsbury backed down.
The fans won.
It’s time to do it again.
Today, Unilever and Magnum are doing what Pillsbury couldn’t. They have attempted to remove every member of the Independent Board. Defunded the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation. Removed a 30-year veteran who rose from tour guide to CEO on four day’s notice. And they are burying the people fighting back in legal motions — hoping to make this fight so long and so expensive that they simply give up.
This is bigger than a governance dispute. This is a takeover of the soul of Ben & Jerry’s. An attempt to silence one of the only mainstream companies willing to take a stand for Palestinian rights, fight for racial justice, and advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. And it has been normalized in the Trump era—power over law, billionaires acting like the rules don’t apply to them.
A federal judge has ordered expedited discovery. The momentum is with the people fighting for Ben & Jerry’s. But they need your help.
For just $8, the price of a pint, you can be a part of history. Collectively, as Ben & Jerry’s fans we will send a clear message to Unilever and Magnum: our values cannot be bought. The rules apply to everyone.
For nearly 50 years, Ben & Jerry’s has taken stands that were not easy.
Now it is your turn.
One pint. One stand.

OUR TRANSPARENCY
Who's Duane Peterson, treasurer of this Go Fund Me campaign? Ben hired Duane in 1996 to help him run the company as a force for change. As Chief of Stuff, Duane shared an office with Ben and Jerry for 12 years, including when they created the pioneering Sales Agreement with Unilever that guaranteed the Independent Board of Directors which Magnum has cast aside. Duane was there then, and back now, to protect the soul of Ben & Jerry's.
Where will this money go? These grassroots donations will fuel the litigation against the multinational corporation Magnum to enforce that innovative Sales Agreement - to re-establish the Independent Board and its rights to shepherd Ben & Jerry's iconic social and environmental mission.
