Support Grace Keefe Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

Hi,

Grace was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, specifically Mullerian cancer (mixed cancer - carcinoma and sarcoma), in March 2022. But her journey didn’t start there. On December 26th, Grace got COVID. Then in January, she was hospitalized with pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in her lungs). In February, she had a heart attack. When the doctors did imaging, they discovered a mass in her peritoneal cavity. In March, Grace had excessive bleeding from the blood thinners and was hospitalized. At that time, they found she had two bleeding ulcers. Grace had an endoscopy, and both ulcers were clipped. After the endoscopy was done and she was resting back in her room, Grace started to experience numbness on her left side. A brain CT Scan and MRI showed she had a stroke. It was at this time Grace was officially diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Grace started chemotherapy on March 14 at The Cancer Center in Fall River. And in April, she transferred to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Grace has numerous chemotherapy treatments and different combinations of chemotherapy drugs, but her cancer is what they call platinum resistant. She was offered to be part of a clinical trial, but after all the testing, her type of cancer didn’t qualify for the trial. Through all of this, Grace has had numerous blood transfusions, paracentesis, thoracentesis, CT Scans, and echocardiograms

She recently started a new chemotherapy, Doxil, in September. She has had two treatments, and the Doxil is also not working.

Grace has retired from her job, and her wife Jen is currently working 80 hours a week to make ends meet. While Jen is eligible for paid FMLA from one position, paid FMLA is not available at her 2nd job.

To those who know Grace know she is an amazing wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her smile is infectious. Grace has a heart of gold and would do anything to help out any one of us in our time of need. So I'm asking at this vulnerable time in her life that we rally behind her as she continues on. Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Grace and to her wife, Jen, who is by her side every step of the way.

Anything you can donate will be genuinely appreciated. Anything we can do to help and surround Grace with love is what is most important.

Please spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
