Chewie's Cancer Fund
Being the Rep. for WTCares in California, less than a year ago I rescued a 2 year old male Welsh Terrier named Chewie from a bad environment and placed him in a Foster Home in the bay area. Fortunately, he became a 'Foster Failure" and he has been enjoying a beautiful loving home environment, and fits in perfectly. A few weeks ago he joined us in Carmel for our social event where he had a great time playing on the beach. However, when he got home a small lump on his neck ruptured. He was taken to the Vet. immediately and was diagnosed with Mast Cell Cancer. They had hoped to shrink the lump on his neck, that had grown to the size of a large egg and then remove it. However, after visiting an oncologist it was determined the lump needed to be removed immediately.
Today, 3/25/2016, Chewie is undergoing surgery to remove the mass. He is going to loose some muscle tissue, and in addition to surgery he may have to undergo radiation treatment.
The family has insurance that will cover about $2,000 of his expenses, but at this point his medical expenses are a little over $7,000. The family has asked me to make sure that any additional funds that are left over to be donated to WTCares, and I will do that.
Chewie started out life on a rough road as a puppy and now has a wonderful life that we want him to continue on with. The Welsh Terrier community has ALWAYS come to the aid of one of our little ones in need, and I hope we can all help Chewie for a successful recovery. Please donate what your can and know that all of us at WTCares greatly appreciate your generousity for one of our rescues.
