Hello friends!
As some of you already know, I will be travelling to Rwanda this summer to do applied theatre work with students at the University of Rwanda. The trip is part of an ongoing partnership between CUNY (City University of New York, where I just completed my first year of graduate school) and The College of Education in Kigali, established to support unity and reconciliation among Rwandan citizens, and to expose educators to the interactive, applied theatre techniques we have been learning. The partnership has been heralded by students and faculty from both institutions since its timely inception in 2010, coming on the heels of a statewide initiative calling for the integration of theatre arts into all Rwandan schools.
It is not without deep consideration that I reach out to you all, my community, for support in being part of this incredible project. Whether you feel like supporting a righteous cause, or just helping me, your contributions- however big or small-are much, much appreciated. I look forward to sharing my stories with you all, and fighting the good fight for years to come!
