When a trip to urgent care after noticing Brody was doing some rapid breathing turned into an ambulance ride to CHKD, then being admitted for the night, then another night, and now they have been there for almost a week... it's simple to say that any and all support that anyone is willing to give is greatly appreciated!
Brody has continued to baffle doctors and staff at CHKD who have been a part of his care team. A blood test showed that his white blood cell count was extremely elevated and a large percentage of those WBCs were eosinophilia. The scary thing is these cells were multiplying around his lungs. He underwent a bone marrow biopsy for the doctors to eliminate certain diseases like leukemia. We are still waiting for those results. He started taking a steroid after that procedure to help lower his WBC count and to help him get off oxygen so that he can go be in the comfort of his own home.
Currently they are thinking it is idiopathic eosinophilic pneumonia. The results of the bone marrow biopsy will be helpful in this diagnosis being more concrete, but for now it is a waiting game. The great thing is Brody has been mostly happy, eaiting, nursing, and laughing through all of this.
The medical bills that will come from this are going to be daunting and every little bit helps... especially when both Alli and Willie have been right by Brody's side the whole time and out of work.
