Hi, my name is Doug, and I'm from Claremont, California. At 67, I was enjoying my retirement years, when in November of last year, I became extremely ill. After fighting through many issues, I was revealed to have advanced Prostate Cancer, which had spread to my bones. My Oncologist prescribed a drug called Erleada, which rapidly brought my PSA levels down to a normal range. Prior to treatment, my PSA was at 14. Currently it is at 0.2, with levels under 4 considered to be good for my age. Erleada has proven to be a very successful treatment, but a 1 month supply costs more than my entire Social Security check for the month. My current grant has run out, and this late in the year, other grant funds have already been allocated. Add in the current Covid-19 risks for someone like myself, part-time employment is not currently an option.I have responded well to treatment with Erleada. Continued use, will keep the cancer in check and allow me to hopefully spend quality time with my family. I am looking forward to a day when I will be able to travel and spend actual time with my family. The hardest thing for me, is to keep my mental aspect positive while ensuring that I also get the treatment I need. It becomes infinitely harder, when some treatments must be delayed due to hospital safety issues. When your visits with family are virtual or at distance, dur to risk of infection. When even a visit to a grocery store becomes a possible life altering event. My prognosis with Erleada is very good. Without it, my life will be shortened significantly. I'm asking a modest amount to help me cover some of the costs. I realize that times are tough for everyone right now, but every little bit helps. I am asking for help to get me through this time ,to be able to continue needed treatments and hopefully be able to spend time with family once again.
