I am a longtime friend of native Staten Islander, Stan Glogocheski, who is now in a medical facility in New Jersey. For many years, Stan was a drummer in various bands, many of which I was also a member. As a result we became best friends and we still are. Stan then got married and had two children. He still continued his musical career until he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Of course that ended his musical career. After his MS diagnosis he was unfortunately diagnosed with many more ailments including congestive heart failure, kidney disease, Alzheimer's and dementia. He has recently undergone a TAVR heart procedure. Obviously his healthcare needs are extensive and required on a 24/7 basis. His wife of 45 years, Robin, has met this obligation. However, now on disability with her own medical problems, she finds it physically impossible to care for her husband and meet his many needs. He is in desperate need of professional care in a nursing home. However he has been denied for this by Medicare. The hospital he is in currently, wants to discharge him. Since he was denied nursing home care, the only other solution would be to have a healthcare worker come to his apartment on a daily basis. That, of course, would be quite expensive. They have depleted all of their savings, and are living solely on social security and disability payments which barely cover their monthly rent and expenses. Paying a healthcare worker would be impossible without financial help, Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer.
