On June 9, 2025, Riley’s life changed in an instant when she suffered three grand mal seizures and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. The next day, an MRI revealed that what was first thought to be a small lesion was, in fact, a large 6 cm brain tumor that appeared malignant.
Within days, Riley was back in the hospital after experiencing vomiting, migraines, and her arms and hands began to seize as well as shake, and had a sudden loss of speech and memory. Emergency treatment with steroids helped relieve the pressure on her brain, but surgery was the only long-term option.
On July 7, Riley underwent an all-day craniotomy at Regina General Hospital, performed by a skilled team of neurosurgeons and specialists. While the surgery was successful, not all of the tumor could be removed. She spent weeks recovering and was finally able to return home on July 25.
Now, Riley faces the next—and equally challenging—phase of her battle. Her oncology team has designed an aggressive treatment plan:
Daily radiation treatments combined with chemotherapy to target the remaining tumor, followed by 12 months of monthly chemo treatments to reduce the risk of recurrence.
This is a long and difficult road, but Riley is young, strong, and determined to fight with everything she has. The emotional, physical, and financial toll on Riley, her partner Kyle, and their two children, Atticus and Asher, is enormous.
With Riley unable to work and travel costs for treatment soon to add up, the family needs our help more than ever.
Your support will help lift some of the burden and allow Riley to focus on what matters most: healing.
