Rallying for Quinton

November, Quinton slipped and fell on the ice.......little did he know that this was God's first step in helping him fight his battle with Epithelioid Sarcoma. His upper hamstring and the area around his tailbone felt bruised, but he thought this was normal. Two weeks later, he woke up in pain and went the the ER. For a while they thought it was bruising, and then even a possible hernia, so treatment with ice and elevation was advised. Things didn't seem to get better, and after several months of increasing pain and testing, he noticed a mass in the area. He was sent to Lack's Cancer Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A CT scan and an MRI were performed. Soon after, a biopsy was taken. On Friday, March 31, 2017 he received the news from Doctor Onesti- a malignant, proximal Epithelioid Sarcoma that was slightly larger than a golf ball. The cells had spread to the surrounding lymph nodes, according to the CT scan. A referral to the University of Michigan Cancer Center was made, and on April 10, we met with Dr. Rashmi Chugh who explained the next steps. After getting a history and looking over the diagnostic scans, she explained what the course of treatment would be, but explained to us that his case would go before a tumor board to assure that all of the oncologists agreed on the treatment protocol. We have since received word that the protocol she suggested was approved as the best possible for Quinton.
Quinton will be traveling with his parents every 21 days to Ann Arbor for treatment. As you know hotels are expense even with discounted rates. Thank you for your prayers and donations during this diffucult time. Family appreciates it.
God Bless!
