Funding for MA

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕਾਖਾਲਸਾ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਜੀਕੀਫ਼ਤਹਿ॥
I’m fundraising for my MA in Culture, Diaspora, Ethnicity, which began in October at Birkbeck. The course runs for two years and will be beneficial to the work we’ve been doing over the last 10 years.
The fees are currently £8840, anything over that amount will help me reduce the platform fees charged by gofundme. Anything remaining after that will go to NSYF.
The sole purpose of this MA is to further the grassroots work we do. Having an MA is a tool that can be used to give us a different kind of legitimacy in certain spaces, something that can be leveraged against the constant silencing of Khalistan.
Unfortunately panthic voices are few in Sikh academic circles, those that we do have are still unclear on Khalistan confining Sikh resistance to “terrorism”, “theocracy”, or “human rights”. Demarcating Sikh liberation from colonial nationalisms and ways of thinking is essential, hopefully I can contribute to that work in this ‘academic’ space.
We’ve been disruptive in this space for a long time and will be so for as long as Guru Sahib sees fit. Hopefully we can break the binary between the university as a centre for “knowledge production” and refocus on the community and people, where knowledge lives and movement work happens.
Here’s a post I wrote about what this MA means to me and the work we’ve been doing:
