My name is Zofia Los Leznicka. I am from Warsaw, Poland but I am currently a 2nd year senior at the Interlochen Arts Academy. I recently got accepted to the Manhattan School of Music, which has been my dream school since I started playing flute. Leaving my family to study in the US came with its challenges, but I knew it was the right direction for me to reach my dreams. Looking back over the past two years, I can see how much I have grown both as a musician and as a person. I have developed my own sense of discipline and have envisioned my own goals for the future. My hope is to continue to be a part of a strong music environment where people are passionate and dedicated to their crafts, and I know that the Manhattan School of Music has precisely what I need
A year ago, I had the privilege to have a lesson with Professor Linda Chesis. I was able to show her via the flute what music means to me on an emotional and artistic level. Her suggestions on how to improve my technique have been extremely valuable. To have the opportunity to study with her for four years would be a great honor. I know she will prepare me for my professional career as well as guide me to develop my artistry and technique. I want to develop my own style of playing through my teacher, sensitivity, and mastery of technique. I am certain that after completing my degree in MSM, I will be a complete musician ready to play in the professional orchestras and ensembles.
I am an open-minded and empathetic person who is confident and passionate to change continents in order to pursue my passion for music. Although I miss home, I know the opportunity to grow in a new place such as New York is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.
