Help me build a better future for Joy

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Lena. I am a former tour manager and event producer from Hollywood and moved to France a few years ago with my daughter. When we traveled to Kenya last year on a volunteering mission I met Joy, an extraordinary young lady. Today, I want to help her build a better future for her and her family. Thank you for your donations. Any amount will help!

HERE IS HER STORY:

« Hello, my name is Joy Millicent, a 29-year-old wife and proud mother to a bright 5-year-old child. I live in Kenya, where I was raised as the eldest of four siblings by our loving but unemployed parents. Life has never been easy, but it has shaped me into a strong, determined, and hopeful woman.

A STORY OF RESPONSIBILITY AND DETERMINATION

As the firstborn, I have carried the responsibility of helping my family from a young age. Due to financial struggles, I could not continue my education beyond high school. I immediately started taking on small jobs to support my siblings and parents.

At one point, I got an opportunity to work at an organization where I proved myself through dedication and hard work. Unfortunately, I developed a painful issue with my wrist that required surgery. During my recovery period, my position was understandably filled to keep operations going. Since I didn’t have a formal contract, I wasn’t able to resume the role, and I found myself unemployed once again.

TURNING STRUGGLES INTO VISION

Instead of losing hope, I began dreaming of building something of my own. I have always wanted to open a lady’s wear general shop, selling a wide range of women's clothing and accessories. I plan to launch the shop in Uthiru, Nairobi, where I believe the business has great potential to grow and serve the community.

WHY THIS DREAM MATTERS

This business is not just for me—it’s for my entire family. My younger siblings still rely on me: one is in university, another in college, and the youngest in primary school. My husband has been our main source of support, but he also has his own siblings in school, and his income alone is not enough to sustain us all.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

I’m seeking to raise KES 350,000 (2400 Euros) to help me start this business. This amount will cover rent, initial stock, shop setup, and hiring two employees. My goal is to launch the business this summer.

BE PART OF MY JOURNEY

I kindly ask for your support—whether large or small—in helping me turn this dream into reality. Your contribution will help me build a stable future, uplift my family, and even create job opportunities for others.

“When you empower a woman, you uplift a whole community.”

Once the shop is open, I will send all of my supporters regular updates with photos so you can see the impact of your generosity and the growth of this dream you've helped bring to life.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you abundantly for your kindness and support.

With gratitude,
Joy Millicent »
