Cynthia is only 26 years old and has always been the kindest, most gentle soul. She loves Disney, music, and moments of joy, and she has a way of bringing peace wherever she goes. She is happy-go-lucky, thoughtful, and full of light — the last person anyone would imagine facing something like this.

Earlier this year, Cynthia began feeling unwell, experiencing stomach pain, headaches, and fatigue. Like many young people, she thought it might be stress or something she ate. In early October, her symptoms worsened, and she went to urgent care. That same day, she was sent to the emergency room, where scans revealed a large mass. Cynthia was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that had spread to her liver and was admitted immediately.

Since then, Cynthia has been in and out of the hospital over the past two months. She is undergoing chemotherapy every two weeks, with frequent blood work and ongoing medical care. The treatment has been extremely hard on her body — she has lost significant weight, struggles with nausea, and has little appetite. She currently has a drainage bag to manage fluid from her liver and receives visits from a home health nurse to help with dressings and medical needs. Doctors have shared that her prognosis is very serious and she needs to focus on caring for herself.

Cynthia had to stop working immediately after her diagnosis. She was just beginning her life with her long-time boyfriend, Darian, and the two of them are now facing this overwhelming situation together. Her mom also stopped working to care for Cynthia and to help support her husband, who is also very ill. Overnight, the family’s income changed while expenses continued to increase.

Cynthia lives at home with her parents and two younger siblings. The household continues to manage rent, utilities, car payments, medical insurance, and everyday living costs. Cynthia currently pays approximately $500 per month for medical insurance through Covered California and, despite applying, was denied Medi-Cal. While insurance helps cover medications, many financial and daily needs remain.

We are starting this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will help with:

  • Medical expenses

  • Household bills and transportation

  • Basic living needs

  • Comfort items and small moments of joy to help Cynthia feel like herself during treatment

More than anything, this fund is meant to give Cynthia some breathing room — so she can focus on care, comfort, and time with her loved ones instead of constant financial stress.

If you are able to donate or share, our family is deeply grateful. Any amount, no matter how small, truly helps. Thank you for surrounding Cynthia with love and support during this heartbreaking and unexpected journey.
