I’ve created this fundraiser to help one of my dearest friends, Robert White. Rob and I met during our early days in college. We became instant friends, and he’s been there for me ever since, through life, death and everything in between. He’s the consummate giver and is always there when you need him.
A few days ago, Rob offered to help a friend rebuild a wooden bridge in her garden. Just as he was about to finish the project and make the last few cuts on the table saw, the piece of wood caught and dragged his hand into the blade, ripping through the three middle fingers on his left hand. He then walked a ¼ mile while holding his dangling fingers to get close enough to the road to meet the paramedics who took him to the hospital.
Rob was about to start a new job this week. Instead, he’s now waiting to see if his reattached fingers will heal enough to remain on his hand or be removed. The prognosis is uncertain, and he will be unable to work again for the foreseeable future.
The simple things we take for granted, like putting on our pants, tying shoelaces, putting toothpaste on a toothbrush, and opening a jar or can, have now become difficult and painful tasks.
Rob is facing a long recovery and many surgeries. He's never been one to ask for assistance. Please take a moment to donate and help him with his medical and living expenses. He’s a wonderful human being (the best of us really) and needs our love and support.
