Help Save Sophie
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rachel and I am raising money to cover my beloved dog, Sophie’s medical bills. She is only 14 months old.
On Friday, October 30th, Sophie was picked up from daycare. She went home and did not get up.
Saturday, I noticed swelling in her paw and took her to the vet. It was said to most likely be a hairline fracture. We were given anti inflammatory and sent home.
Sunday, the swelling moved up her leg. She could not walk or eat. Bleeding began to occur from her dewclaw. She was immediately brought to the emergency vet where they said it was most likely cellulitis and made an incision for the infection to drain. Antibiotic were given.
Monday, she was getting worse and still had not eaten. She was given zofran to help with nausea in hopes to entice her to eat. The wound from the incision was not looking good. I was instructed to continue to clean the wound with epsomesalt and warm water, apply Neosporin and continue letting it drain.
Today, the upper part of her leg burst open from infection. She was rushed to her usual vet and then to an emergency vet.
We were informed the infection is now Necrotizing Fasciitis, a bacterial infection that results in the death of parts of the body's soft tissue. She is receiving antibiotics through an IV. If she is able to pull through, she will most likely be having the leg amputated.
I love Sophie unconditionally and will do anything to keep her alive. I want to watch her chase the seagulls at the beach again someday.
No donation is too small.
Thank you
