Trying to rebuild my life

Hi. My name is Lillian Cooperman. I am a self-employed acupuncturist in Baltimore City. In 2021 I lost most of my life savings of 25 years—$160,000—to fraud. I have spent the last year-and-a-half pursuing legal means, but without success. The financial loss is unrecoverable. This has devastated my life and taken it's toll in many ways.

As of October 2023 I have also been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. It has metastasized in the liver, and I need chemo and then hopefully surgery, I may not be able to work for a year.. :/

I am in constant high-level pain and having trouble functioning. I'm not a candidate for surgery right now because the tumor is so large and extensive.

Starting ‘from scratch’ now as a 54 year old small business owner, I am facing an uphill battle, at best, to recover my, health and financial stability. My acupuncture business barely survived the pandemic and still hasn’t returned to its same level of functioning and productivity.

In addition, I have a disability (severe OCD) which makes doing basic tasks incredibly challenging. In fact, it was because of my disability that the predatory group was able to take advantage of me and steal my savings. The stress of this situation has taken a further toll on my physical health; and I am currently dealing with several other serious health issues.

Through my work I've also been supporting two underprivileged kids, one in Nicaragua and the other in West Virginia. Here are pictures of them!

Being in a healing profession, it’s always been important for me to serve and help others. In addition to my work as an acupuncturist, I love supporting important causes, such as sponsoring two children through Children Incorporated and protecting and providing for a Moon Bear through Animals Asia. I confess, though, that I find it very difficult to ask for help for myself. But I am asking you now; and I hope that you will consider donating.

My colon cancer is treatable and I may live for a long time, so thank you in advance for the support!
