Hello, my name is Tucker Nicol and I am in 8th grade. I need this donation for my Youth and Government club to send me to a mock convention in PA. This is hosted by the YMCA and sends kids from all over the Commonwealth to Harrisburg for 3 days. When are there, we will get to write bills and debate the bills. We also get to decide on whether or not to pass them. There are other roles you can take, such as roles on the judicial branch, the press, and lobbyists. This year, I will be a legislator. I am one of the secretaries for Youth and Government, so it is crucial that I am able to attend and support my club. I need this money to be able to pay for food, hotel room, and all of the other activities we get to do like taking a tour of the Capital. I am still relatively new to YAG and I am excited to build on what I learned last year and help improve for the future years that I attend. I really enjoy going to the convention because it helps me test myself to see how responsible I am and it lets me do stuff that most kids cannot. Thanks for your consideration!

To learn more about YAG and the Model Convention, click HERE . The entire program costs $480 for the 3 days/2nights. Tucker also has to provide 3 meals and snacks (hence the goal set for $500).

This year has been a pricey one for him because of black belt testing and going with me to Washington D.C. this past summer, which is why we told him he needed to try to raise some funds for this one. We talked over the options (selling something like chocolate or wrapping paper, ways he might be able to earn money in our neighborhood, and funding platforms) and this seemed the right fit for now.

Tuck really loves history, politics, and social justice, and Model Convention gives him hands-on experience in those fields. Last year he came back exhausted but glad he went! Thanks again for your support and time!
