YoungLife Mission Trip to Nicaragua

Life is an adventure, or nothing at all. In my short 19 years on this earth, I have found that the grandest of all  adventures can be found where Jesus leads me. Beyond my own expectations, limitiations, or hesitations. Far beyond what I could ever dream up for my own life, far beyond my comfort level, and deep into what it looks like to live life in Him, and life to the fullest.

The next adventure is quickly approaching, Jesus is calling, and my I cannot just sit back and support this with words and thoughts, but will go with feet and deeds.

Where am I going you might ask? And when? And what will I be doing? And what are you asking of me? Excelent questions to ask!

Where: La Finca YoungLife Camp in Matagalpa, Nicaragua

When: March 12-19th, 2016

Why: My team and I will travel to La Finca YoungLife Camp in Nicaragua where we will spend the week serving hundreds of Nicaraguan children have the best week of their lives at this camp.

Why YoungLife: Why choose to serve with YoungLife, you might ask, as opposed to the hundreds of other orginzaitons you could go through. The answer is simple: while other orginzations are so good, none have touched my heart quite like YL has. It is the minisitry I serve with locally at home, as I have the priveledge of getting to be a YoungLife leader here in the Tri-County area through Clemson University. I get to serve on a team of twelve people as we go into the school we were placed at, Liberty High School, where we meet our high school friends where they are, become friends with them as we seek to grow our relationship with them with the end goal of sharing the gospel of Jesus with not only our words but how we live our lives with them. I now get to take these same actions and bring them as we serve God in much of the same way, just in a different country.

What I Ask of You: To first and formost, pray for my team. Lift up our names and our mission before the Lord, praying on our behalf that he would make his will for us clear, that our journey would be safe, our hearts would be humbled, and our hands would be willing to serve in whatever capacity they can. Beyond that, there is also a financial aspect of this trip. I do not believe that the Lord would call me, and not provide a ways and means to get there. While this part is the most nervewracking for me, it has also been a very tangible lesson in faith itself. As for me, I have been working the past semester, saving up any that I can for this trip. I will also be doing other various fundraising projects, using the gifts and abilities God has given me in order to serve Him. From you I ask that you prayfully consider supporting any way that you can financially. Even the fewest of dollars will mean so much to me, and I know God can multiply the little we have to offer and bring about so much good, to bring him so much glory. The end total of this trip might seem big, but I confidently go forward, knowing my God is bigger still.
