Support Andrea Bollinger's Breast Cancer Battle

Hello, my name is Lily Helmer. My amazing Aunt, Andrea Bollinger, was diagnosed with Stage III Breast Cancer in May of this year. On July 29th, she underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction of her left breast as well as the removal of 21 axillary lymph nodes. Once she has recovered from the surgery, she will begin a series of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. As a result of the many medical appointments and tests leading up to the surgery, as well as the actual procedure, recovery, and future treatments, Andrea has not been able to work for the past few months and will not be able to return to work until sometime this winter at the earliest.

Andrea is a single mother and primary provider for two sons, one of which is on the autism spectrum and requires daily support. Fortunately, her older son is able to provide that daily care for his brother - as well as care for Andrea while she heals and recuperates - but that limits his ability to work as well.

Andrea has worked in the restaurant industry for over 25 years, including in many popular establishments like Psycho Suzy’s, Parlour Bar, Eggy's, Ichiban Steakhouse, and Hai Hai - always putting others needs before her own. Unfortunately, this is an industry without a strong safety net for situations like Andrea faces now. She has resisted our urging to start a GoFundMe as she has always been independent and proud to take care of herself and her family without help from others. She has been managing so far by selling a vehicle, trailer, and other personal possessions, but those resources are running out. She is finally willing to allow a GoFundMe to help her during this challenging time until she can rejoin the workforce as a breast cancer survivor.
