Help Amy Haskell

For all who have asked what can they do or how they can help, this is how. For those who do not know Amy's story: In March of 2014, Amy lost the love of her life, Peter Haskell to cancer. Peter was diagnosed in May of 2013 and fought for 10 months. During that 10 months, Peter got their house in order, both their physical home and their personal effects. All he wanted was for Amy to not have to deal with any more stress.
After Peter passed, Amy mourned. She was comforted by her Kees and her home. In May of 2014 another tragedy hit. Amy's 2 year old dog attacked her and had to be euthanized.
In 2015, we experienced the most brutal winter. Temperatures were -20 for several days at a time. Amy suffers from fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis, it was a long and painful winter for her. She began looking for winter properties. She found a great little house and began to get excited about an escape from the debilitating winters.
In November of 2015 went to North Carolina with the plan of returning in the spring. We had a relatively mild winter and I checked on her house here from time to time. In March, Amy's engine blew; the following week she received a call from the electric company that there was a large amount of usage from her hot water tank. She called me, Ashley and I went up to check on the house.
What we found when we went into the house that had been Peter and Amy's home was heartbreaking. Five water lines had broken and the water damage was extensive. There was water and mold on every surface. The house was ruined, all of Amy's furniture, keepsakes, and memories will have to be thrown away. Another tragedy.
Amy has been a long time supporter of the community and now she needs our help. Amy's homeowners insurance will only cover a portion of the damages and it is still unclear if they will help her with her living expenses once her vehicle is fixed and she can come back here.
Amy has supported the Vermont Police Canines, Bark for Life, And many dog rescue projects. Amy is a member of the small business community, Keeshond community, the agility community, and the rescue community. Please consider donating to help with the costs of her making her house a home again.
