I am Yousuf Eid, originally from Gaza, Palestine, seeking your support to rescue my family from the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
"Launching this fundraising event is our last hope for ensuring the safety of my family."
Last summer, I was excited to become a Belgian citizen, finally able to travel and meet my family in Gaza after not seeing them for six years. My trip was planned for October 12, 2023, just five days after the war began. Despite the hope I held for six years, I was unable to go home, and I witnessed my home being completely destroyed. Many of my friends/family members were killed one after another, along with their entire families.
My family was constantly fleeing from danger, displaced to six different locations, hoping for safety, and facing sudden airstrikes around them. Thankfully, they survived, while others, such as my two uncles, did not.
I often imagined how close I was to losing one or even my entire family—the family I had missed so much and was so close to seeing again. I lost some of my close friends, the ones I had promised to visit when I booked my plane ticket.
I experienced many heartbreaking moments—feeling afraid, alone, sad, and disappointed. For several days, I lost contact with my family, unsure if they were alive. Whenever the connection was restored, I took screenshots to keep as memories, in case I wouldn’t see them again. The horrifying scenes I saw on the news were painful, and it was difficult to accept that my family was living through those circumstances.
Our dream house, built just a year before the war, was destroyed. Many times, my brothers and father were close to losing their lives. The only option they have now is to leave Gaza and reunite with me here in Belgium.
I hope that I can compensate my family for their loss, and this is the only way I can help them.
Every small contribution can make a difference in ensuring their safety and giving me the chance to reunite with them.
Sharing is caring. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Yousuf & Family
