Supporting Collin's Recovery After Amputation
Donation protected
On Thursday November 21st, my 18 year old nephew Collin was involved in a motorcycle accident in front of Pieper High School where he was T-boned by a truck and taken to University Hospital. He suffered a spleen laceration and a broken leg in the accident and had to be taken in for emergency surgery to repair his spleen. Unfortunately, the doctors found that the extent of his leg injury was too severe to repair and they had to amputate his left leg below the knee. He is currently stable in the ICU and while we are all just incredibly grateful that he is still here with us today, we know that the road to his recovery will be an extensive one.
Recovery for an amputee doesn’t just present physical challenges and we understand that there will also be many mental and emotional challenges that he will have to face and adapt to as well. We decided to set up a GoFundMe account to not only help alleviate some of the burden of medical bills but also help ensure that he is provided with the proper rehabilitation and physical therapy, temporary assistance with living expenses and eventually help with covering the cost of a prosthetic when the time comes.
Anyone who knows Collin knows that he loves being in the gym and helping others reach their fitness goals, so we know it will be difficult for him to have to slow down while he recovers. Our hope is that we can raise enough to help ease the transition into all of these new changes and challenges that he will face. We know that with his drive and determination that he is fully capable of showing the world what he’s able to overcome and adapt to.
We are so very blessed to have an amazing support system surrounding him and our family and are incredibly grateful for every single dollar that is donated or words of encouragement that are offered. Thank you all so much for your love and support.
