I need your help. Writing these words is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. The only thing harder will be facing everything that comes this week.

My father passed away in his sleep. It was completely unexpected, and our family is shocked and heartbroken. He was 56. My dad taught me everything and supported every goal I went after no matter how stupid it was. He was there for everything. He wrote me everyday I was overseas serving; he was so worried but stayed brave for my mom. He bragged so much about me and having a Marine for a son to all his friends and all my accomplishments; he was so proud. My dad and I talked every single day. We FaceTimed everyday. He wasn’t just my father he was my best friend. I’ll never get another chance to tell him how much I loved and respected him, and that’s a pain I’ll carry forever.

But more than anything, he lived for his grandkids. He couldn’t stop talking about plans for Silas’s birthday in a couple of weeks. Everything he did was for them. The truth is, he cared more about others than he ever did himself.

This year, my wife, kids, and I moved back to Georgia to be closer to family. It was the right move, but it came with a heavy financial hit. We’re still trying to recover, and I’m not in the position I need to be in to help my mom right now; and that’s hard for me to admit.

My whole life has been about serving, protecting, and helping others. Asking for help is not easy for me. But today, I have no choice. I’m asking for help if you’re a friend, a coworker, a brother or sister I served with, or even a stranger with a kind heart….I’m begging for your support for her.

Any small donation, sharing this post, or even keeping us in your prayers would mean the world. I added up what I believe the cost of the funeral will be and a month of utilities for my mother. I believe I’ll be in a better place financially by November and will be able to carry things from there.
