Wheelchair for Miss Sunday
Donation protected
On the evening of November 27th my son was driving down the street and spotted something dragging itself down the road. He stopped to investigate and found a very sad little dog. Fur matted, smelly, crawling with fleas and had little to no use of her back legs. He scooped her up and brought her home. We worked well into the next morning washing, trimming, removing fleas and matted hair from the tiny little creature. Under all the bugs and grime was the sweetest little shihtzu you will ever meet.
She stole our hearts and we have named her Sunday.
We took Sunday to the veterinarian today, Novemer 30, to find out what is going on with her back legs. She has a congenital malformation in both hind legs. Proximal tibia's rotate inward 45-90 degrees. Displaced menial to distal femur.
Surgery would require bones to be broken and she is SO deformed that Dr Smith thinks that trying that could almost be worse on Sunday. She is young, around a year old, doesn't know she is malformed so she compensates for it rather well but because she drags her hindquarters she will start to wear skin away on her knees. She often walks on her front two legs when she gets tired of dragging herself.
Dr Smith recommends we get Sunday a set of wheels! He says she will then be able to keep up with the rest of our pack! She already tries really hard and she has only been with us 3 whole days.
Sunday also needs to be spayed, have a hernia repaired and needs several X-rays. That has already been graciously covered by a dear friend so the last thing we need help with is a new set of wheels.
Any help would be so greatly appreciated. She deserves to be pampered and loved, never have to worry about food and water for the rest of her life.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read Sunday's story.
