Untangling Alejandra!

Friends and Family! I’m reaching out for your support.

While this GoFundMe originally had started to help support the cost of an urgent move back to San Diego, to help support the care for my grandfather, it has now evolved into something out of a telenovela!!! :(

Prepare yourself for a story…

On June 17, I submitted a complaint against the new Executive Director of the organization I worked at, for her harmful & abusive behavior.

On August 5th, I was placed on a 2-week paid leave because the ED wanted me to take time off to think about my actions (but keep in mind that she was the abusive one - but that’s a story for another day).

On August 12th, I went to the hospital to get an MRI, as I was having horrible headaches (which I attributed to the stress from work). Unfortunately, I walked out of the MRI machine vomiting & with horrible pain in my head and back. Later that day, in the Emergency Room, I received the diagnosis of a Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation (a tangle between cerebral veins).

Awesome :| Just what I needed!

So on Monday the 16th, I met with a neurosurgeon who recommended brain surgery, with 2-3 months of recovery.

IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!! :|

On Tuesday, the 17th, I met with a Worker’s Rights advocate who recommended I apply for State Disability Insurance right away and submit a 30-day notice to work, letting them know that I would have to be out for three months on Disability Leave, and start planning accordingly.

So on Wednesday, the 17, I submitted the notice to the HR Director at work.

And on Thursday, the 18th, I was FIRED.

Yep. I was fired right after I submitted a notice of Disability.

:|

I TOLD YOU. A TELENOVELA!

Now, if you recall, I was already planning on moving back to San Diego. I had received approval from work, to relocate. So I submitted my 30-day notice to the landlord.

Fast forward 18 days and I’m now unemployed and without a home. Because NO ONE rents to someone who is unemployed! And neither Disability, nor Unemployment benefits cover the cost of rent! (Another fight I’ll continue taking on!)

But regardless, I refuse to get brain surgery in Sacramento! I need to be home, surrounded by family & friends who will be there to support me & my mom through this scary & challenging chapter in our lives.

❤️

I know I’ll get through this! I’m a fighter!

But good god did August swallow me, chew me up, then spit me back out in pieces!

But I’m a seed!!! And even when I feel in pieces, I’ll sprout again.

Which is why I’m here.

I tend to not ask for help.

I’m the oldest of 4. An immigrant myself. First in my family to graduate from anything. So I learned to get through challenges. Figure it out.

But the reality is, I need help this time.

So, if you have it in you & are able to help, I would VERY much appreciate it!
